Lodha visited the areas recently and also interacted with the locals and gave them confidence that such incidents won’t be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the violent group
Amid the tension over scuffle between two groups, Cabinet Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mangal Prabhat Lodha recently visited Bhoiwada area of South Mumbai.
It started with a spat between two groups on Shiv Jayanti (March 28). On March 31, it turned into a fight, with one group being beaten up by the other. Residents of Bhoiwada area reported the incident to the police station, but the police did not take any action. On the contrary, the police allegedly manhandled the victims and threatened to file a case against them, according to local residents. They then approached Lodha, seeking justice and a fair investigation.
Lodha interacted with the local residents and gave them confidence that such incidents won’t be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the violent group.
Speaking to News18, Lodha said, “Some sociopaths are trying to replicate the Malwani pattern all over Mumbai. This incident of Bhoiwada is part of it. We will not allow South Mumbai to become Malwani. Local residents met me and requested me to visit Bhoiwada. Acting on my instructions, the police have taken note of this incident. Police have obtained the CCTV footage of the area. They will take appropriate action after going through the entire footage.”
Recently, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on the orders of Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Lodha, demolished the illegal five-storey house of a criminal who carried out a knife attack on several people in Saki Naka. As per the instructions of the minister, the civic body tore down the rest of the structure and only let the ground floor stand.
