Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most important Jain festivals in India. It celebrates the birth of lord Mahavir, the 24th and final Tirthankara in Jainism. Mahavir Jayanti falls on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the Indian month Chaitr. As per the Gregorian calendar, this date usually falls in March or April. This year Mahavir Jayanti will be celebrated on Sunday, April 21.
